Quartz is an engineered stone. This means your quartz countertops will be created and manufactured by a highly-trained and experienced countertop fabricator. The fabrication process will begin by combining crushed quartz with coloring pigments along with a small amount of polymer resins to hold everything together. Typically, quartz countertops should be comprised of 92%-94% quartz and there shouldn’t be any more than 6% additives.
The manufacturing process results in an incredibly hard stone that is virtually maintenance-free and nearly indestructible. Quartz is harder than countertop alternatives like granite and marble. It’s important to note that excessive heat may damage this engineered stone and the use of trivets and heating pad are strongly recommended.
